2024 Summer Guide

2024 Summer Guide

By Michael Theobald

We hope to get your input for our 2024 Summer Guide to places to visit in Central New York. The past few years I’ve suggested a few activities I’ve done from the comfort of my wheelchair. The NY State Fair is always on the calendar and maybe a rerun of the Sterling Renaissance Fair. This Summer, I’d like to concentrate on nearby state and county parks. I haven’t been to all these places but hopefully will get to check them out for accessibility and ease of use. If you have any recommendations email us at info@ariseinc.org.

Clark Reservation State Park in Jamesville and Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville are two accessible places. Green Lakes even has a new accessible playground which opened last summer.

Onondaga Lake County Park in Liverpool is a fantastic place to check out. Jamesville Beach has swimming, Otisco Lake in Marietta is good for fishing, Oneida Shores in Brewerton has camping, swimming, picnic areas and kayaking, Pratts Falls in Manlius seems a bit rugged with trails, orienteering and a waterfall. Once I find a calendar of summer events, I’ll update here.
