Ride for Ramps Bicycle Raffle to Benefit ARISE Ramp Program

Community members have the chance to win a custom fitted bike from Murdock’s Bicycles & Sports while also helping the local ARISE Oswego County Ramp program.

This is the second year in a row that Murdock’s has pledged their support for the program. All money raised through the raffle will be used to purchase construction materials so volunteers can build ramps for families in need throughout Oswego County.

Each year, the ARISE Oswego County Ramp Program makes it possible for local families to regain access to their homes and reconnect to the community. Without a ramp, mobility difficulties can cause everyday things like a quick trip to the grocery store or getting the mail turn from being a simple task to a huge obstacle. One of the ramp recipients shared that because of the ramp she received, she was finally able to go to church again for the first time in years.

In addition to the bike raffle, the June 8 Ride for Ramps fundraising event at Fort Ontario will also include a motorcycle ride, 5K run, kids’ bike ride, chicken BBQ, Rudy’s Lakeside, and family activities.

Registration is available at http://rideforramps.org and raffle tickets are available at the ARISE Oswego office, Murdock’s Bicycles & Sports, or can be purchased at the event. Raffle tickets are 1 for $2 or 6 for $10. To learn more about the event, contact Kristin Rabideau at 342-4088 x207 or krabideau@ariseinc.org.

ARISE & Ride for Ramps is supported by EMPOWER Federal Credit Union, Pathfinder Bank, Relph Benefit Advisors, Fulton Savings Bank, Haylor, Freyer & Coon, and Price Chopper. Additional support is provided by the Friends of Fort Ontario, Good Times of Oswego, Murdock’s Bicycles & Sports, NewsChannel 9, Oswego Speedway, Precision Sign and Graphics, Rudy’s Lakeside, Woodchuck Saloon, and Zink Shirts.
