Social & Support Groups

Support Groups provide information and support relevant to a person’s individual needs and circumstances. With plenty of options to choose from, you’re certain to find a support group that catches your interest!

Onondaga County

  • Sibshops in Onondaga County is a support group for brothers and/or sisters that have a sibling with a disability. Sibshops is available for any youth in Onondaga County 7-12 years of age who have a sibling with a disability. We also offer a teen group for teens 13-17 years of age who have a sibling with a disability. The group meets at various times and locations that are convenient for the participants. The meetings are a great opportunity to discuss concerns, frustrations, accomplishments, and almost anything else related to life with having a sibling with a disability.   • The Communicators is a monthly social group for adults with all types of disabilities. This group gives you the opportunity to come together, make new friends, socialize, learn, and share your experiences. Oswego County

  • Social Club
    Members of the ARISE Social Club are adults with all types of disabilities. This group gives you the opportunity to socialize, gain support, discuss disability-related issues, and share your achievements with others.   • Community Connections
    Community Connections is a support group for young adults ages 18 and older. The group participates in many fun activities and helps with the transition from being a teenager to a young adult.   • Teen Group
    The Teen Group focuses on providing support and encouragement for teens with developmental disabilities.   • Social Skills
    Social Skills is a social and support group for young adults that helps with developing or improving coping and social skills.   • Sibshops
    Sibshops is for 3rd through 8th grader brothers and sisters of children who have special needs. Sibshops are a lively mixture of new games, discussions, and guest speakers.   • Madison County Young Adult Club
    This social and support group is for young adults transitioning out of high school.
