Part-Time Receptionist (Clinic), Grade 3

Job Title: Receptionist, Grade 3

Reports to: Mental Health Services Office Manager

FLSA Status/Schedule:   Non-Exempt; Tuesday and Thursday 5-8:00 pm and Saturdays, 8:30-4:30 and Occasional back up coverage as needed – 13.5-25 hours per week

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college or business school preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to function autonomously and as a team member
  • General organizational skills with accurate attention to details
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs
  • Some understanding of Adult and Children’s mental health
  • Must clear required prescreening checks (List of Excluded Individuals and Entities, NYS Child Registry, etc.)

Essential Functions:

  • Assure that clients are comfortable and welcome at ARISE
  • Front desk reception coverage downstairs at the main lobby
  • Open doors on Saturdays for clients coming into the building for appointments in the clinic
  • Be a security minded individual and ensure adherence to safety policies
  • Assist upstairs clinic receptionist as needed
  • Provide backup reception desk support to the clinic as needed; monitor reception window, check clients in, collect and enter co-pays, schedule appointments, answer the phones and take messages as appropriate
  • Participate as part of the ARISE Mental Health Clinic team
  • Uphold the codes of conduct and ethics as well as all ARISE policies and procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment as a matter of course, and hold protected health information and other sensitive information in the strictest of confidence in accordance with ARISE and HIPAA policies
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Obtain schedule of evening appointments in EVOLV
  • Greet clients, and advise clinic receptionist when each client has arrived
  • MH Clinic shift ends when the last client is out of the building and all areas have been checked to ensure that everything has been turned off, coffee machines, sound machines, and no one has been left in the building before locking up
