Peer Mentoring Employment Program
ARISE’s Peer Mentoring Employment Program is one of the few in New York State! Our program matches individuals who have a disability with a trained Employment Peer Mentor based on shared experiences and interests. Your Peer Mentor supports you throughout the process of preparing for and gaining meaningful employment.
Through one-on-one peer counseling and group meetings, you will:
- Learn job-related skills that enhance your ability to find and maintain employment
- Participate in job shadowing, volunteer experiences, local worksite tours, work tryouts, and job fairs
- Get assistance in addressing barriers to work, such as health care, benefits, family dynamics, and transportation
- Receive group support through discussion and role playing
