Programs & Services
As an Independent Living Center (ILC), ARISE has the five key characteristics shared by all ILCs: it is consumer-controlled, community-based, non-residential, non-profit, and provides cross-disability services.
ARISE is guided by the independent living philosophy … the idea that people with disabilities have the same basic rights as people without disabilities to fully participate in their communities. At the heart of all that we do is the belief that people with disabilities have the right to self-determination – to living as independently as possible and making choices that shape their own futures.
ARISE serves people of all ages with all types of disabilities. Our core services include peer counseling, independent living services, information and referral, and individual and systems advocacy. We also offer a broad range of programs beyond our core services, each designed to support independent living and community integration. All our programs are consumer directed, maximizing choice and opportunities for the people we serve.
ARISE offers services throughout Central New York. Our offices are located in Syracuse, Oswego, Pulaski, and Oneida. ARISE at the Farm is located in Chittenango. In many cases, our services are available even if you don’t live in the county where the service is provided.
If you don’t find the service you need at an office near you, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information or for assistance with finding the service you need.
