ARISE Sponsors Free Golf Clinic for People Who Have Disabilities
ARISE, an Independent Living Center, will offer its fourth annual free 3-Day Golf Clinic for people with disabilities on August 19, 20 & 21 2008 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Elms Club located at Sandy Pond in the township of Sandy Creek.
Scott Hilton has again graciously donated his time to lead the Golf Clinic. He is Head Professional of the Elms Golf Club (located on 2 Country Club Lane in Sandy Creek) and Pines Golf Course (located on Route 3 in Pulaski). Mr. Hilton entered the PGA program in 2002 and has been a Golf Pro for the past 8 years, holding Junior Clinics at the Elms for six months of the year and working as Assistant Professional in Melbourne, Florida for the remaining six months.
Scott enjoys sharing his passion for the sport by providing free one-on-one instruction to interested individuals with disabilities. Participants will work on proper stance and correct techniques along with stretching activities. One day of the clinic will be held at the golf course and the other two will be held at the driving range.
Tom Pizzuto and Linda Hilton are the current owners of the Elms and Pines Golf Courses. Frank Pizzuto, former owner, bought the Elms in 1960 and expanded the course from 9 to 18 holes in 1972. He purchased the Pines in 1982 and expanded it from 9 to 18 holes in 1992. These two fine golf courses offer a full Pro-Shop, 18 holes of golf, fine dining, wedding receptions, outings, and clinics. The courses are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer months. For more information regarding the Elms or Pines, call (315) 387-5297.
