Fulton Municipal Building to Host UNIQUE Art Exhibit

Oswego, NY: An exhibit featuring work from the 2011 edition of UNIQUE Art & Literary Magazine will take place in the Community Room at the Fulton Municipal Building from 5 to 7 PM on October 27. This one-night exhibit will feature more than 40 creative pieces published in UNIQUE 2011.

Work by Oswego County artists Donna August, James Coon II, Derek Grindle, Steven Ingerson, Luann Knight, Jeremy Kelley, Melissa Sorar, and Emily Terry will be featured in the exhibit and many of them are expected to attend.

According to Steven Kern, Executive Director for the Everson Museum of Art and a member of the UNIQUE Editorial Board, “UNIQUE is an exceptional celebration of the creative spirit. The 65 artists represented in the exhibit are guided by imagination and the desire for self-expression. They reaffirm that artistic vision is not limited to sight, that art succeeds where words fail, and inspiration and determination are not limited by disability, but succeed through the common need to express ourselves and connect with others.”

Tom McKeown, ARISE Executive Director states, "We are thrilled to have the UNIQUE 2011 art on exhibit at the Fulton Municipal Building. We have been proud to produce this high quality publication for the past ten years. It was our hope to have the work seen by as many people as possible and we are honored to have the exhibit in Oswego County."

This year’s edition of UNIQUE magazine is the eleventh that ARISE has published. UNIQUE is an important component of ARISE’s work to highlight the many talents and viewpoint of people who have disabilities. It represents the power of art to express, educate, and inspire.
