Engagement Specialist/Clinician, Grade 8

Reports to: Director of Clinical Services
FLSA Status: Exempt


  • Master’s Degree in Social Work
  • New York State License: LCSW
  • Demonstrated ability to function both autonomously and as a team member
  • Knowledge of government benefit systems, community resources, NYS Office of Mental Health regulations
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a human services setting working with individuals with mental health conditions
  • Experience with an Electronic Health Record(EHR), Evolv preferred
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with diverse populations

Engagement Specialist Essential Functions:

  • Develop and facilitate collaborative relationships with health care and other community providers, act as clinic liaison for referral process and provider requests
  • Develop marketing tools and provide mental health trainings to community partners and members
  • Participate in community meetings and events related to mental health topics
  • Contact individuals receiving services and community members for administration of satisfaction surveys and report aggregate data from the survey
  • The following duties are in collaboration with an individual’s assigned mental health clinician:
    • Individual Engagement and Assessment: outreach, assessment of need, troubleshooting challenges to attendance at clinical appointments as well as linkage to professional and natural supports
  • Collect and report outcome data on a monthly basis; assist with creating program reports to funders and the agency
  • Maintain case records in accordance with regulatory bodies
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Clinician Essential Functions:  

  • Maintain a caseload equivalent to 13 billable units per week; also help lead/provide group services as needed
  • Provide intake, assessment, treatment planning, therapy, and discharge planning services to individuals, families, and groups of adults and children who are clients of the agency
  • Provide coverage on a rotating basis for the after- hours crisis line
  • Provide crisis counseling services on an as needed basis
  • Consult with appropriate collateral resources involved with the clients of the agency
  • Utilize a systems approach to providing services in order to help clients achieve improved family, community, and individual functioning
  • Maintain case records in accordance with regulating bodies
  • Assess appropriateness of clients for services, and make referrals for additional services as needed
  • Maintain positive working relationships with other agencies in the community and represent ARISE in a positive and professional manner
  • Uphold code of ethics, code of conduct and all ARISE policies and procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment as a matter of course, and hold protected health information and other sensitive information in the strictest of confidence in accordance with ARISE and HIPAA policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
