Job Title:         Community Engagement Coordinator, Grade 8

Reports to:      Chief Development Officer (CDO)

FLSA Status:    Exempt


Job Summary:     Works to increase resource development and donor stewardship.  Represents ARISE at local events ensuring the success of ARISE development efforts in support of ARISE programs and its Independent Living Philosophy.


Essential Functions:

  • Foster external relationships and interact with donors
  • Participate in strategic relationship development by performing research to identify companies, corporations, organizations, and individuals for cultivation and solicitation
  • Perform donor analysis to identify individuals with high giving potential and their possible connection to ARISE
  • Coordinate strategy for donor interactions and maintain “moves” management
  • Work collaboratively with grant writer to identify funding opportunities and provide background on funders
  • Utilize an array of tools such as but not limited to: social media, email, mail, in-person meetings, etc., to reach and engage prospective supporters
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other ARISE departments and programs to assist in supporting programmatic needs
  • Communications – Assist with the development of: annual reports/newsletters, ads/presentations/outreach, mail appeals, brochures, flyers
  • Social Media – Engage supports through the use of: Facebook/Twitter, web ads to boost awareness and participation in special events and activities
  • Special Events – Plan, coordinate, and organize events such as ARISE Annual Dinner, UNIQUE Opening Reception and other smaller events
  • Be able to lift up to 25 pounds to assist with setting up booths, display tables, etc.
  • Uphold the codes of conduct and ethics as well as all ARISE policies and procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment as a matter of course and hold protected health information and other sensitive information in the strictest of confidence in accordance with ARISE and HIPAA policies
  • Successfully work as part of a team and take initiative to work independently while supporting a team effort
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years’ experience in development/fundraising; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for ARISE mission
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in donor database administration strongly preferred
  • Experience organizing special events with 150-300 guests
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Highly organized with an attention to detail
  • Flexibility when workload necessitates an adjustment of priorities
  • Proficiency in word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
  • Clean New York State Driver License and reliable transportation
