Administrative Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist / Cleaner, Grade 2 (Oneida Office)

Schedule:                             Monday – Friday, 12:00pm – 4:00pm


Job Summary:  ARISE’s Office Receptionist is the first visual and/or auditory contact with diverse people including individuals seeking information and/or services, visitors, volunteers, employees, contractors, board members, donors, students, etc.  The incumbent treats each person with dignity and respect, while attuned to the flow of the agency’s daily business cycle. Maintain the clean appearance of the IL Center.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet and welcome visitors with courtesy
  • Answer incoming telephone calls with warm professionalism, clear communication skills in connecting to correct destination
  • Serve as an Informational Generalist to re-direct caller to appropriate person or service available
  • Process all incoming and outgoing mail and faxes
  • Operate postage meter, sort correspondence per recipient and/or department
  • Conduct night closing procedures including locking of front door
  • Discern potential for problematic situations and proactively notify when assistance is anticipated
  • Thoroughly clean the bathrooms, offices, kitchen, lobby area
  • Remove trash
  • Uphold ARISE’s Mission, policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, HIPAA, codes of conduct and ethics
  • Exercise sound judgment consistently
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Able to see, sit, grasp, reach, hear, speak and communicate clearly
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Able to operate cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaner, broom, mop, etc.)
  • Able to maintain composure while balancing multiple visitors’ and/or employees’ needs simultaneously or in succession
  • Understanding of disability rights advocacy and Centers for Independent Living principles
