According to the United States Assistive Technology Act of 1998, assistive technology refers to any "product, device, or equipment … that is used to maintain, increase, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities."

In short, assistive technology allows persons with disabilities to more fully participate in their world.

As an Independent Living Center, ARISE’s mission is to work with people of all abilities to create a fair and just community in which everyone can fully participate. Assistive technology helps make that possible.

Alliance for Technology Access (ATA) is the national network of community-based Resource Centers, Developers, Vendors, and Associates that provides information and support services for people with disabilities.

Infinitec.org works to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through technology.
