 Direct Service Professional (OPTS)

ARISE has a full time (37.5 hours) position available weekdays.  This is a temporary job, with potential for longer assignment.

Provide direct services in a one on one setting with a person with a disability that will address identified needs and assist the person in developing and maintaining more independence in the community.  Duties Include, but are not limited to assisting consumers: in classroom settings; with personal care needs; with career exploration; and as otherwise stated in the Individualized Service Plan.

Required:

  1. Associates degree in a human service related field with minimum one year direct care experience with individuals with OMR/DD disabilities required.
  2. Must have and maintain clean, valid NYS driver license.       
  3. Must have reliable vehicle, with current registration, inspection, and insurance
  4. Moderate mental and visual application needed to: prepare and analyze data; read and assist with higher education studies; operate personal computer proficiently.
  5. Able to stoop, kneel, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, talk and hear.
  6. Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, to move objects and to assist people in and out of wheelchairs.
  7. Able to lift 62 lb. consumer from wheelchair to toilet occasionally.
  8. Able to transfer consumer from wheelchair to vehicle and open, fold, and pack wheelchair.
